On Thursdays electricity doesn’t work well and neither does the internet. Some factories declare Thursdays day off, because of the numerous power cuts..
My flat is actually pretty nice (but very empty), and the whole building has an aura of its own. I was imagining my living conditions here in a more precarious way. The most challenging thing about adapting to the place at the moment is probably trying to feed myself. I’m kinda lost in the shops, can’t find pasta (only noodles that were actually not good), can’t find proper bread (you know, good proper European bread smelling like heaven coming right out of the oven!!), I’m trying to figure out how spicy the bottled sauces are (but of course they’re all drop-dead spicy, except for the Heinz ketchup!). Other annoying details are that I’ve got no fridge (there’s a fridge in the office only) and no oven, so… bananas are about to become my main source of nutrients! But don’t worry for me Mama, I’ll figure things out, I promise!
The street is a fascinating place. But very polluted too! In the morning there’s a funny haze over the city. People driving motorbikes don’t wear helmets, they wear handkerchiefs over their nose and mouth!
You never get bored when you’re on the road, there’s so much action going on! The way they all manage to get through without bumping into each other is pretty fascinating! The double white lanes in the middle of the road apparently only mean that you shouldn’t stay too long on the opposite lane. If a slow truck is bothering you, you just cross the double white lines and use the opposite lane to take over!
