Today 16th of March is Gudi Padwa, the first day of the year in the Hindou calendar(It's a different date every year!). It's also a celebration of springtime and harvests, and the day the great king Shalivahana defeated Sakas in battle(don't ask me more details about that one) and many other things!! Indian people have many celebrations all year round and apparently any excuse will do to get a day off and celebrate! Actually then I wonder why they didn't chose a different day for all of these. They surely would've had 2 whole weeks off!!
Anyway I won't complain, a day off is exactly what I needed to laze a bit and write to my friends and read some books..
